Paul Taumoepeau
(Tonga Country Manager) |
Manager Profile
Mr. Taumoepeau grew up in Tonga, before going overseas to pursue academic studies. Since his return to Tonga in 1992, he has amassed over 16 years of experience working in the public and private sectors. Mr. Taumoepeau spent 13 years with the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, where he filled numerous positions, setting up domestic market and corporate services systems. Prior to his appointment at Nautilus he worked for Leiola Group Limited, where he was the General Manager in his last two years. Mr. Taumoepeau is Vice President of the Tonga Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
“My goal is to try and educate stakeholders in Tonga at all levels – government, schools, tertiary institutions, churches, diplomatic reps, villagers, and outer islands – with what we are trying to do. I hope to give them a balanced view and correct any misperceptions.”
“What excites me about this work is that no one in Tonga ever thought that one day we could export minerals such as copper and gold to the world, and create a new export sector. I get to work for a company that is a world leader in its field creating outputs with less environmental impact than current systems.”
